THE CUMBERANGELS DO OPERATION CHRISTMAS BATCH!
(just as it says on the tin)
Please take the time to read this.
What is this you say? Well I shall tell you.
The CumberAngels are an awesome group of people. (I assume. I mean I know they are awesome, I assume there is more than one) who this year are participating in Project Christmas Child. A wonderful charity that spreads joy to children via a small box of presents. These children would otherwise probably never receive a christmas gift, or a gift at all.  Can you imagine? You probably can’t.
The box usually contains both useful gifts and gifts just for fun. So you might include a pencil case full of pencils, coloured and grey led, and/or pens and textas, erasers, sharpeners etc. Perhaps a writing book or two. Socks or a hat or undies. Toys, lollies, toothbrush and paste, etc. Needful things and things just for fun.
But what can I do to help? You cry, I am just one person! (in homer simpsons voice) well, let me tell you, in the Cumber Angels own words!
“So how can I help?
I have set up two methods in which you can help and be a part of this project. The first is donating money to me (Stephy) as I will personally be wrapping and packing presents to be collected by the charity in Nottingham. Every single penny donated will go towards making up these presents and everyone who donates will be put on a list on this blog so everyone can keep track of where the money is going. I will be putting up my shopping list on in a diary so you can make sure you know what I am up to. (If something happens, ie I can’t get shoeboxes, over 400 boxes waiting to be packed, project becomes impossible, the team will do what it can to keep on track but if this should happen the money will be redirected to the online donations only. Though we will literally do our best to keep things running as smooth as possible.)
The second is a Virgin Money Page - this money will go towards paying for the transport of thousands of presents from the UK and America to the children, as well as providing villages with clean water and livestock for families. Note: this money will not go towards making up presents. As much as I have tried, online donations go to the charity’s work itself and not to making gifts.”
But by no means does that…not mean..you can’t get a box sent to you for you to send off (because thats how it works, you cant use any old shoe box, they send you one. Used to be that way but things have changed. You can put together your own, take a photo and send it to the cumberangels. They’re keeping a list you see, and checking it twice.
NO DONATION IS TOO SMALL. Every bit counts. So if you are sad that you can only donate a small amount, dont worry, it all adds up in the end. Sometimes its that little coin that tips money from a small number to a larger one.
And as they name suggests, it’s done in Benedicts honour. He’s no stranger to charity work and this will just tickled him in christmas colours when/if he finds out.
Before I round things up, I just want to share a little story I found out on the site. When the boxes were taken to a little village they were greeted with much excitement and happiness. The Elders were asked which child was most in need, they thought for a moment than selected one boy. He’d never had a present before. Not one. His family could not afford it.
He was asked, if he could choose one gift, what would it be?
"A hat!" The boy replied. He’d never had one before.
So they handed him a shoebox and the whole village watched as he opened it.
And there on the top, was a hat.
Can you imagine who he felt? The gift he’d always wanted was right there? Plus many others as well. But the kid was thrilled. I really want you to know that doing this will bring happiness to so many kids in need.
So please help!
Though they mainly receive Uk and US parcels, Aussies don’t fear! Project Christmas Child is also run in australia too.
