I would start screaming, but I would try to be mature about it because John being married is canon. Though, I think Mary died before Sherlock returned in the novel, so she may not make an appearance in the show.

John was actually married twice in canon. What happens to Mary is unknown. Many people speculate she died. Perhaps in childbirth. However we never learn anything about his second wife. Because his relationship with Holmes trumps even that.
